What you'll be able to do

  • Read a listing and know what 2+kk, kauce and zálohy na energie mean

  • Ask what matters at a viewing: what the rent includes, the deposit, pets, how long the lease runs

  • Understand your lease: fixed-term or open-ended, when the rent is due, the notice period

  • Report a broken boiler, a leak or mould, and ask who pays for the repair

  • Go through the handover report and meter readings when you move in and out

  • Give notice and ask when you'll get your deposit back

What's inside

70 phrases, each with a note on when to use it and three example sentences. Here are 6 of them.

pronájem

rental (for rent)

The word at the top of every listing; "pronájem bytu" = flat for rent, "prodej" = for sale

inzerát

listing, advert

2+kk

two rooms plus a kitchenette

Listing format: the number of rooms, then "kk" (kuchyňský kout, a kitchen corner in the living room) or "1" (a separate kitchen). Bathroom and toilet are not counted

3+1

three rooms plus a separate kitchen

Read it as "tři plus jedna"; the "1" is a kitchen with its own door

garsonka

studio flat

One room with a kitchen corner; listings also write it "1+kk"

panelák

prefab block of flats

The concrete-panel blocks built 1950s–1980s; colloquial, the listing word is "panelový dům". The alternative is "cihlový dům", brick

How packs work

1. Pick your situation

Each pack is the Czech for one real moment: the flat viewing, the doctor's appointment, the foreign police. Or the words you'll meet most often.

2. It goes straight into your drill

Everything is added to your own list and mixed into your daily drill with spaced repetition. It's not a PDF you read once.

3. Be ready by your date

Drill for a few minutes a day and walk in already knowing what you'll hear and what to say.
